Importing videos

Importing videos

Learn how to import videos into Fable.

To import your video files into Fable:

  1. Drag and drop the file into the Editor.

  2. Or, upload it via the Asset Browser L

Your video will automatically render when you play your project.

Supported file formats

  • MP4

  • MOV

  • AVI

Customizing your video

Move videos around the canvas, adjust properties, add effects, mask them, and more, just like any other layer.

Understanding video properties

  • Source: Control the video file playing on the layer. Swap between files while keeping transforms, keyframes, and effects.

    • How to swap: Select a video layer, find "Source" in the Inspector, click the dropdown, and choose another uploaded video.

  • Dimensions: Explicit control over video dimensions with options for texture sizing.

    • Options: Cover (scale to fill object) or Contain (fit entire video within set dimensions).

Texture sizes are measured in pixels, indicating the texture's length and width. Adjusting dimensions can result in a render with a different aspect ratio than the original file, so texture sizes offer greater control.

Special video functions

  • Editing in the Timeline: Trim in and out points by dragging the duration bar. Move the duration bar across the timeline.

  • Audio Control: Manage audio associated with videos.

    • Options: Toggle playback, mute audio, or detach audio from the video for independent timing.
