Shapes

Learn how to integrate preset and custom shapes into your projects.

Accessing Shape Tools

Located in the Toolbar on the top center, available shapes include Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, and Star. Click the dropdown menu next to the rectangle icon.

Creating Basic Shapes

  1. Select the desired shape icon.

  2. Click + drag the cursor on Canvas.

  3. Hold Shift for 1:1 proportion (square or circle).

  4. Release the cursor to create the shape.

Path Controls

Found in the Inspector under "Path," controls include Width, Height, Corner Radius, Point Count, and Ratio.

  • Width: Used to make the shape narrower or wider. For lines, this controls the length of the line.

  • Height: Used to make the shape taller or shorter

  • Corner Radius: Used to round corners of a shape

  • Point Count: Used to control the number of points on the star (minimum 3)

  • Ratio: Used to control the distance of the Star's inner points from the center. This is shown as a percentage of the Star's overall diameter.

Check out a comprehensive list of shape-specific controls.

Editing Shapes

  • Double-click a basic layer to enter "Editing Path" mode

  • Draw an original shape with the Pen tool.

Editing a basic shape removes Path data (i.e., width, height) and any associated keyframes. Therefore, it is best to enter Edit Path Mode before animating it if you plan to make customizations.

Edited Shape Controls

  • Corner Radius: Used to shape and animate rounded corners.

  • Edit Shape: Used to customize further–adjust, draw, and animate paths.
