Motion Tile

Motion Tile

Repeat layers and create complex patterns

Overview

The Motion Tile effect is used to create a seamless tiling texture from any layer in your project. It essentially duplicates a layer to fill a specified area.

Motion Tile is useful for creating backgrounds and patterns that seamlessly repeat across a composition.

Controls

  • Tile Offset - determines where the center of the tile should be relative to the original layer

  • Tile Size - scales the size of all tiles that make up the pattern.

  • Rows - specifies the width of the effect's output; calculated in multiples relative to the original layer's width.

  • Columns - specifies the height of the effect's output; calculated in multiples relative to the original layer's height.

  • Phase - shifts every other row or column to create an alternating pattern.

  • Phase Axis - determines if the phase property should control rows or columns.

  • Vertical Mirroring - when enabled, tiles are mirrored across the y axis.

  • Horizontal Mirroring - when enabled, tiles are mirrored across the x axis.
